DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Seymour was located near latitude 20.2 North, longitude 122.7 West. Seymour is moving toward the north-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h). A turn toward the north and a decrease in forward speed are expected later today, with a turn toward the north-northeast expected tonight or on Friday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued rapid weakening is forecast, and Seymour is likely to weaken to a tropical storm this afternoon and become a remnant low pressure system on Friday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 986 mb (29.12 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
