HE Space is a successful international space company. For over 30 years, we have been supporting our customers with qualified experts in the field of engineering, science and administration. We are currently looking for an Instrument Performance Engineer to support our customer in the Netherlands. Instrument Performance Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Working within the Earth Observation Directorate at ESTEC you will provide support to the Instrument Performance activities for Sentinel4 and Sentinel5 with the following responsibilities Development, implementation and validation of complex performance models of optical spaceborne instruments, in particular passive spectrometer instruments, dedicated to atmospheric missions Assessment of the instruments system performance as well as subsystems contributing to the instruments performance Contribute to meetings within ESA, industry and potentially with users Liaise with members of the project team responsible for the various instrument subsystems and disciplines, e.g. optics, focal plane assembly, calibration Liaise with the science support team to support both the mission related scientific studies and the instrument design evolution. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent qualification in Physics with background in Optical Engineering Good familiarity with computer programs such as Excel, MathCAD and MATLAB andor Python Good communication skills Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the outside world Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
