Active Space Technologies is working for customers such as the European Space Agency ESA, the German Aerospace Center DLR, Selex Galileo, Thales Alenia and various European SMEs. Title Aerodynamic and aerothermal investigation of surface instruments on Mars. Job Description The purpose of the work is to investigate dust devil winds and their interaction with instruments on Mars. This will require interaction with instrument designer and applying aerodynamics knowledge to suggest model optimizations that allow to obtain required stability margins. The main tasks will be performing CFD modeling with data from raw CAD models through post processing results and final report preparation. Additional task may be calculating flow parameters for wind tunnel to create a flow with similar characteristics as on Mars, accounting for its thin atmosphere. Required Experience and skills Major in Aerospace engineeringComputational CFD Strong fundamental knowledge in Aerodynamics and computational methods Previous experience with CAD modeling SolidEdge is preferable Language skills Fluent English written and spoken German language skills would be an asset Desired Experience Previous experience with meshing and CFD modeling using StarCCM or other CFD programs. Background knowledge of Wind Tunnels or equivalent testing facility Nationality Due to existing contractual limitations, the position is open only to Nationals of NATO and EU Countries, Russia, Israel, Switzerland, Tunisia, Australia and New Zealand.
