Space Applications Services performs and supports system and software engineering for the European Space Agency ESA, National Space Agencies and the aerospace industry. We are involved in international manned unmanned spacecraft programmes, earth observation, science, exploration, communications and related technology development. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Mechanical Engineer mf SGSROB201505 Tasks and Responsibilities The successful candidate will join the Robotic Systems team Systems Ground Segment department, whose activities cover the complete developmentlifecyclein a range of robotics projects. The candidate will deal with the design and prototype manufacturing of complex robotic components for force feedback arm and hand exoskeleton systems, in challenging ESA and EC funded projects, with application to robotic telepresence and training. The position is located in our offices in Zaventem Brussels and will involve international travel with short collocation periods for working with Europeanpartners. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have a Master or PhD degreeinMechanical Engineering,Mechatronics or equivalent. A few years of experience in a similar role is a plus, but a combination of relevant educational background, technical other skills and expertise can also suffice. Furthermore, candidates are required to have the following skills Strong expertise with CAD tools. Thorough knowledge of mechanical technology, materials, tolerancing, drafting, production and manufacturing processes coventional and rapid prototyping. Very good command of spoken and written English. Experience with one or several of the following, is considered an asset for this position Use of light medium duty machine tools, additive manufacturing. Force feedback haptic interfaces. Electronics PCB design, etc.. Space qualification process and constraints.
