For the space department of a large international engineering organization in Norway, we are currently looking for a Mechanisms and Systems Engineer. The department is specialised in the design and development of deployment and pointing mechanisms for space applications. Conceptual definition and design of space mechanisms, configuration assessments and mission performance evaluations Establishment of requirement specifications for mechanism systems, individual mechanisms or mechanism components Support and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of the space mechanisms ECSS engineering standards Perform and support System Level Mission Definition studies and system conceptual design activities in support of the long termfuture mission plans Identification of enabling mechanism and tribological technology activities for future ESA missions relevant to the ESA future mission planning. Experience and Education Experience within the field of mechanism design for space applications Previously participated in conceptual phases of development Thorough knowledge of drawing tolerances, including making drawings for production A good knowledge in space system engineering lower tier requirements breakdown and allocation, as becomes necessary for implementing compliant design Capable of making basic structural calculations nonFEM, for early assessment of strength and stiffness Experienced user of CATIA Good technical judgment and solid communications skills, verbal and in writing, are essential Proactive and customerorientated attitude to solving problems and an interest for innovative technologies. In addition to the above, candidates with one or more of the following qualities will be preferred Experience with mechanical design of RF parts Wave guides and Rotating Joints Experience of thermal calculation and simulations for equipment external to space craft, including taking into account solar radiation, MLI, Heaters and thermal distortions.
