Job description To strengthen and bring diversity to our team we are looking for a Mission Control Systems Software Engineer with working experience in designing and developing software tools based on the CCSDS standard protocols in Java and C. You will be part of our experienced team who design and develop, extend and maintain Mission Control Systems software tools for our space clients and you would bring to the table your expertise with development of tools such as debuggers, profilers, and tracing utilities, and skills such as problemsolving and multitasking, using a logical approach. Responsibilities Initially the activity of the candidate will be fully dedicated to MCS Engineering support, however it should not be excluded that at a later stage the tasks will encompass other areas. You will be supporting the maintenance of vital infrastructure components such as EDDS, EUD, DABYS, DARC, FARC, MATIS, NIS, SCOS2000 and SMF. Managing the transition to a community licensing model for these in parallel with uninterrupted support to the flying Space missions. As you will collaborate closely directly with the clients end users, together with the responsible technical managers to maintain efficient and reliable code in Java andor C we would expect you to design, develop, debug, document and test software in JavaC.You will proactively help maintaining the code quality, organization, and automatization. This position is fulltime and permanent, based in Darmstadt, Germany. The expected starting date will be NovemberDecember 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a university degree in software engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics or similar, the candidate shall cover as many of the below requirements as possible Essential Skills Familiarity with MICONYS and knowledge of one or more of EDDS, GFTS, EUD, DABYS, DARC, FARC, MATIS, NIS, SCOS2000 and SMF Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript, shell scripting Object oriented programming and design using UML Experience using automated testing technologies Linux command line, Source Code Control System SVNGit, Maven, Jenkins and Nexus Experience in building software applications based on CCSDS standard protocols such SLE and CFDP Experience with Eclipse RCP. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Desirable Skills Previous experience on GIMUS or related project JIRA, GitLab Automated testing using CppUnitJunit JavaScript and Python experience Experience in softwaresystem design methodologies Familiarity with effective teamwork principles and team building aspects A proactive attitude towards problem solving and the ability to achieve solutions as required.
