Mission Manager About Rocket Lab For most people the idea of a rocket launch brings up images from the Apollo era monstrous booster engines, groundshaking noise and a behemoth of a machine slowly climbing against the grasp of Earths gravity. This iconic image, the one that transformed us into a spacegoing species, captures the power and strength of rockets. But it is not hte image that will make space a commercial reality. Replace this image with the bustle of a high speed assembly line, where rocket booters feed off a conveyor belt connecting to preencapsulated payload stages, rolling out on to the launch pad one after the other. This image, is about speed and efficiency and what the Rocket Lab Electron orbital project is all about. Rocket Lab has created a legacy of excellence by developing innovative solutions to ambitious aerospace problems for the likes of DARPA and other technically demanding customers. Now fully funded by majoir Silicon Valley venture capital funds, Rocket Lab is focused on redefining how the world accesses space by building Electron a revolutionary launch system designed to meet the launch requirements of the rapidly expanding small satellite market. About the Role As Rocket Labs Mission Manager you will be responsible for developing and managing all customer relationships and ensuring that their requirements are fully met at each and every stage of the process from first contact to satellite launch. This role will involve national and international travel to guarantee the very best service is provided to Rocket Labs customers at all times. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is looking to progress their space career as Rocket Lab offers a dynamic and fast paced environment and the Mission Manager will be a trail blazer both within Rocket Lab and the space industry, building strong customer relationships and delivering on launch contracts will be at the very heart of Rocket Labs ongoing success. This role will guarantee challenges on a daily basis and to succeed you will need to be able to learn quickly and utilize your own initiative whilst working under pressure and to tight deadlines. Minimum Requirements An Engineering degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or equivalent qualification 2 Years technical management experience gained within the space industry An understanding of launch service contracts and the ability to demonstrate effective negotiation skills Knowledge and understanding of payload integration Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with customers locally and internationally Proven experience working to tight deadlines with a pressurized environment Willing to travel frequently, at least 50 of the role will involve travel to customers and launch sites Excellent computer skills with the ability to use a variety of management and planning software tools Important Information For secruity reasons, detailed and indepth background checks will be undertaken prior to any employment offers being made to successful candidates.
