Moreover, we actively manage your professional development, training and career progression. For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Mission Planning Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Mission Planning Engineer shall perform tasks related to mission planning operations, primarily involving the management and use of the Payload Data Ground Segment Mission Planning Facility PDGS MPF and the Flight Operations Segment Mission Planning System FOS MPS, within a SCOS2000 based mission control system. The main tasks will include Performing routine biweekly and contingency scheduling tasks using the MPF and MPS Performing preventative maintenance on the MPF or MPS according to working practice, generally by running system checks to spot any system anomalies or errors Raising anomaly reports when necessary and monitoring their resolution through attendance at appropriate review boards Supplying context and initial analyses that may aid the investigation of anomalies Responding to mission planning related anomalies and operational contingencies promptly Maintenance of mission planning documentation such as the User Guide document and the Operational Implementation document Liaising with external entities where necessary in order to fulfil joint operations requirements. Maintaining documentation concerning this Maintaining a detailed understanding of the Sentinel3 space and ground segment operational needs that are met through mission planning. Through regular liaison with space and ground segment experts, implementing, testing and documenting new or modified operational needs that are met through mission planning Performing the maintenance, update, validation and documentation of the MPF operational implementation in all mission phases. The MPF operational implementation resides in a relational database and associated business rule management system, and is used to generate schedules related to satellite payload mission planning Rolling out of new versions of the MPF operational implementation following approved configuration management procedures Performing the maintenance, update, validation and documentation of the MPS rules and constraints file in collaboration with the Flight Control Team Maintaining an understanding ofthe SCOS2000 MCS Working Operational Database, in which the linkage between Sequences Requests and telecommands is defined Contributing to the definition of any changes to the supplied mission planning application software or to inhouse supporting software that could lead to performance andor ergonomics improvements Contributing to the process of implementing such changes, and liaising with any external contractors that may be performing the changes Contributing to the definition and raising of Engineering Change Proposals and Change Requests concerning mission planning, and attending ECP Review Board meetings if necessary Contributing to the operational validation of new versions of mission planning application software, including testing of ARNCR correction and new functionality. This may include FAT or OSAT attendance Participation in any necessary meetings and reviews long term scheduling, schedule consolidation, anomaly review boards, etc Training of personnel in mission planning tasks as required Essential requirements In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the successful Candidate shall have at least 3 years experience of low earth orbit LEO spacecraft and ground segment system operations mission planning, satellite monitoring and control using SCOS2000. Furthermore, the following experience is required At least 3 years of general programmingsoftware development, including at least 1 year of software development in Java or an equivalent e.g. Drools, JBoss Rules At least 2 years working with relational databases and sql, preferably involving Oracle database administration At least 2 years of working with files in XML format At least 2 years of Linux operating system administration At least 1 year of software development in C, with knowledge of Oracle database access using ProC advantageous Other Information Start date is foreseen to be April 2015 Fluency in English is mandatory Candidates must be an EU Citizen or have valid working permit to work in Germany
