Post Description DEIMOS is selecting an engineer to be integrated in the Modelling Simulation Competence Centre of the Flight Systems Business Unit. The work of the MS Competence Centre is oriented to simulation and space system engineering, focusing on the technology research, innovation and development of navigation, guidance and control functions and systems for future Earth observation, science, exploration and space transportation missions. As a matter of reference, current DEIMOS activities comprise Formation flying Autonomous inorbit rendezvous Space transportation systems and reentry vehicles Planetary entry, descent and landing Functional engineering simulators FES to support the GNC design process, and realtime testbenches RTTB for realtime performance assessment Main Duties The following types of responsibilities are envisioned Modelling and simulation of space systems, including space environment and space vehicle dynamics Participation andor leading of functional engineering simulator software development projects Play an active role in fostering the consolidation of the engineering process and promoting technology research, innovation and development actions Education Required A recognized engineering degree aerospace, electrical, control, computer science engineering or similar Desired Postgraduate studies e.g. M.Sc. on aerospace, simulation or software engineering Professional Experience Engineer with 1 or 2 years involvement in the domains relevant to the post Technical Requirements The following skills are required for the post Modelling of dynamic systems with MATLABSimulink Programming languages C and MATLAB Software engineering methods and techniques Classical mechanics theoretical background Other skill desired for the post are Knowledge of other modelling and simulation environments and languages e.g. Scilab, EcosimPro, Modelica Object oriented programming Other programming languages Java and Fortran dSPACE prototyping systems Fundamentals of orbital and flight mechanics Language Skills Good level of English, spoken as well as written Personal Skills Responsibility towards the customer and team mates Willing to work in groups Initiative and autonomy to solve complex problems
