This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at ESTEC in Noordwijk in The Netherlands. Modelling and Simulation Engineer 1811013 Job Description We are looking for a Modelling and Simulation Engineer for our client ESTEC. You will provide support to the section activities in the areas of system and architecture modeling. In addition, support to the development, verification and acceptance of SW infrastructure to support modeling as well as simulation. The activities will be in the area of System modeling in support of requirements engineering, system architecting and system verification. System modeling in support of information traceability and management, in particular linked to system software development. Tools and infrastructure maintenance to support system modeling and mission performance simulation. Endtoend performance simulators for space missions, in terms of the related simulator development software, processor development for data products and formalisation of corresponding simulator architectures. Following the complete software lifecycle for the project, encompassing users requirement, specification, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment of new SW release and the SW maintenance process. Providing support in simulation tools and models used for the project including its 3D visualisation texture, model..., real time simulator with HW in the loop, models used for simulation. Managing communication interfaces between the different project elements, both for flight and ground segments. Managing the porting of the flight SW to new HW platform. Managing porting of ground segment SW to new HW platform in case of HW obsolescence. Required Skills and Experience At least four years professional experience in a relevant position. MSc or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent. Practical experience of system modeling and mission performance simulators. Experience in system modeling, using SysML or comparable modeling languages. Experience in system architecting using architectural frameworks. Experience in system requirements and verification engineering. Experience of simulator development, functional and performance, at software level. Good knowledge of related methods and tools, i.e., software engineering and configuration control methods, tools and standards ECSS is essential, in particular for embedded systems and their associated testing and verification. An ability to work independently and to establish good working relations is essential. Good programming skills in C and C is essential. Proficient knowledge of the UNIX Linux operating systems and advanced knowledge of Windows is important. Knowledge of realtime modelling and simulation and its application to space projects is very important. Desirable Skills and Experience Background and experience in robotic operations is desirable. Knowledge in visualisation systems VR is desirable. Experience in spacecraft system engineering is advisable. Position Reference 438 You will have the opportunity to engineering support to the Mechanisms Section at the European Space Agency. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Mechanisms support to all ESA project directorates with respect to the implementation of space mechanism technologies in current and future missions, including configuration assessments and mission performance evaluation Establishment of Statement of Work and Preliminary Requirement Specifications for Mechanism Systems, Individual Mechanisms or Mechanism components dedicated to Technology and Research Development. Perform and support in the role of Mechanism engineer, System Level Mission Definition studies and system conceptual design activities in support of the ESA long termfuture mission plans. Identification of enabling mechanism and tribological technologies for future ESA missions. Support investigations of mechanisms being out of performance, including malfunctions and contingency scenarios. Support and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of the Space Mechanisms ECSS Engineering Standards. Generation and setup of appropriate space mechanisms analysis and simulation models using analysis tools based on technical documentation of space mechanisms. Back up and archiving of analysis models for later retrieval. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have PhD or Msc Engineering from a recognised Institution of secondary studies University, Ecole suprieure, etc. or equivalent. You have good knowledge of ECSSEST3301CRev.1 Mechanisms. You have good knowledge of ESA and its programmesprojects. Selfmotivation, communication, continuous learning, crosscultural sensitivity. Our Marine Applications Competence Area MACA is responsible for the scientific development, maintenance, validation and quality monitoring of marine and ocean products extracted from satellite instrument chains. This influential role, Martine Applications Competence Area Manager, provides a great opportunity for an established remote sensing expert to manage the MACA team and its resources and to lead the development of the scientific knowledge required to support the exploitation and evolution of EUMETSAT and Copernicus instrument chains. The ideal candidate is an experienced scientist who is an expert in the remote sensing and processing of data from relevant spacebourne marine remote sensing missions, preferably in an operational 247 environment. With experience of calibrating marine remote sensing instruments, developing and coding operational remote sensing software, you can initiate and lead relevant scientific studies.
