Netflix admits to throttling, to protect customer data caps

(Telecompaper) Netflix said it has been throttling video speeds on most carriers aroundthe world, including AT&T and Verizon, for the past five years in order to protect its customers, the Wall Street Journal reported. A week after the wireless carriers were accused of throttling video speeds on their networks, Netflix stepped forward to take the blame for the lower video quality, saying it did to protect consumers from their exceeding mobile data caps.
