Network Architect United States Manassas, Virginia ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The main purpose of this role is to support or global transport network. Our customers include ISPs, MNOs and enterprises who each require the highest level of confidence in our IP network services. The Lead Network Architect will be continually charged with improving the reliability and performance of our network infrastructure to meet the highest availability standards. The Lead Network Architect will work with Network Engineers on different projects and assume a line manager role for other team members. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Responsible for end to end network design and architecture life cycle plan, design, implement, operate, optimize retire of the SES Networks Global Backbone network as well as Customers Network products Identify Requirements technical, business, and political Assessment audit of existing customer network, infrastructure services circuits, hardware, rack space Performs Gap Analysis in support of planning Responsible for Project Planning define scope of project, timing, deliverables and resources needed, costs, etc. Perform in depth logical and physical Network Analysis audit Responsible for conceptual design Assign work and supervise Network Engineers in the stages of Detailed Design and Documentation Training Design test plans and define test scope assign work and supervise Network Engineers performing testing Supervise and assist Network Engineers during first implementation provides technical support, as needed Provide solutions to enhance network QOE quality of experience for the network backbone Provide analysis regarding tools, features, best practices and Howtos, in order to overcome limitations or enhance performance for the network backbone Responsible for leading complete network redesign Evaluate existing network performance, perform network modeling, taking into account existing network traffic and estimates the effects of growth on the network i.e. new applications, new branch offices, additional users or a combination of the three, newer equipment might have on network performance to make accurate upgrade recommendations to management Perform redesign vs new design analysis, feasibility analysis report and make GoNo Go recommendations Support Commercial teams in responses to RFPs and writing proposals Works with product team to build new network products and services Works with customers to establish strategic network improvements within their networks to drive more bandwidth adoption and improved end customer experience Responsible for technology and vendor selection Lead and manage hardware and software vendors along with service providers to customize various designs according to customer requirements Perform Network Research Development of technology trends Manage multiple projects at the same time Acts a supervisor for Network Engineers assigned to support various projects Serve as escalation point and provide Level 3 Engineering support to various operation teams COMPETENCIES A strong communicator and a world class attitude to customer service Sense of urgency, initiative and competitive drive to get things done Resourcefully working through or around anything blocking things that need to be accomplished Ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them Ability to work at in a fast pace environment Ability to manage multiple projects Strong problemsolving skills Must be able to interact with and influence people at all levels and have excellent public speaking skills Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English Effective communication and presentations skills in working with both technical and nontechnical support staff Ability to organize, manage, and evaluate the work of technical staff QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE BSMA degree in Electrical Engineering, IT, or related fields CCIE, JNCIE or equivalent experience Experience in Juniper routers and switches Experience in system administration using Windows, Linux Experience in Network Analysis Experience in Network Automation tools Experience in Satellite communication Excellent level in Routing, Switching, Multicast, Wireless, MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, QOS, and Data Center Excellent level in various Network Design Principles and Product Design Models Excellent Level in Security, firewall design, IPSIDP , VPN, forensic, Ethical Hacking Excellent Level in TCPIP protocol, DNS, HTTP, SNMP, HTTPS, SMTP, etc. 10 years experience in Networking and Data Communication 3 years experience in Service Provider Network Environment Whats in it for you?
