Ocean Colour Scientist Support mf Ref.Nr. 158806.2 The Challenge We are looking for an Ocean Colour Scientist Support, whom activities will include scientific and engineering aspects related to the scientific support to both Sentinel3 OLCI Levell TOA Radiance products and Level2 Ocean Colour products. This will include contributions to the scientific development, maintenance, Levell and Level2 processors, instrument calibration, algorithm and product validation, verification, routine monitoring and offline analysis of Levell and Level2 OLCI marine data products in support of the Copernicus Sentinel3 marine mission. The requested support is for the Sentinel3 OLCI Ocean Colour product chains nevertheless, assistance with other marine activities may be required. EUMETSA T disseminates Ocean Colour Third Party Data to Copernicus Marine Services and is in the process of developing OCrelated products from its own mandatory missions. The OLCI CalNal activities will require intercomparisons with Third Party Ocean Colour data sets. The tasks and responsibilities will include Support to validation and verification of Level2 Ocean Colour algorithms and Level2 and Level3 products Support to OLCI instrument characterization and calibration and to verification of Levell products Support to the scientific and engineering development of calibration and validation methods as well as implementation of new tools and utilisation of existing tools Support to the development of new tools for product processing monitoring and utilisation of existing tools Investigation of anomalies and issues related to Level 1 and Level 2 product quality Support to the setup and operation of product quality monitoring and reporting tools Contribution to the analysis, assessment and maintenance of LlL2 Ocean Colour satellite data processors and algorithms Contribution to scientific development of algorithms to support CaiN al activities Contribution to the execution of scientific support studies This is full time positions, located at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, with starting date as soon as possible. Your Qualifications This position requires a University degree in remote sensing, oceanography, physics or equivalent. Scientific support will be sought mainly in the areas of optical imaging for oceanography products, in particular for Ocean Colour products. Essential requirements are A 5 year or longer experience with satellite Ocean Colour Handson experience with the calibration and the validation of remote sensing products Good interpersonal skills in support of team work Hands on experience with the development of calibration and product validation methods and tools Familiarity with the precursor to the Sentinel3 Ocean Colour mission Experience with operational satellite data processing Mandatory 5 years of scientific programming skills C, IDLPVWAVE and ENVI or equivalent Skills in writing technical and scientific documents Familiarity with Linux programming environment and Microsoft Office Fluent in English Desirable requirements Experience with calibration and characterization of Ocean Colour instruments and with calibration validation Experience in the development and validation of Ocean Colour data processing Experience with the development of product monitoring tools Experience with large data sets Terma offers At Terma, we consider skilled employees, enthusiasm and job satisfaction as the very foundation of our success and as a prerequisite for the development of the bestinclass solutions that Terma provides.
