For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a OnGround Instrument Data Processing Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks EPSSG will be the second generation of EUMETSATs polar system and as such will have a strong heritage from the existing EPS with its Metop satellites and operations, and from other elements of the EUMETSAT infrastructure in support of current programmes. The activities for the selected keyperson will be related to onground instrument data processing chains, from data received from the satellites to generation of level 1 and level 2 products via dedicated onground data processors and their dissemination to endusers. The key person will provide support in the area of onground instrument data processing engineering. Typical activities to be undertaken by the key person are Following up the definition and development of the onground instrument data processing specifications e.g. algorithms and product formats Following up the development of the onground instrument data processing systems, test tools and test data Following up the verification, integration and acceptance of the onground instrument data processing elements Supporting the validation of data processing algorithms and products Participating in reviews, verification and testing of onground instrument data processors against appropriate versions of requirements, specifications and reference processors Supporting system engineering activities in collaboration with EPSSG system and ground segment teams Supporting interactions with space segment teams and analysis of instrumentrelated documentation as far as relevant for data processing Participate in formal reviews and technical meetings at system and ground segment level when relevant for instrument data processing elements Provide input for support preparation of documentation for system and ground segment level reviews in relevant areas. Essential requirements The keyperson shall have the following experience and background University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent At least 3 years of experience in engineering of onground data processing elements for spaceborne observing imaging andor sounding systems. Ability to plan work appropriately and cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Ability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written. Willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. Desirable requirements The following experience would be an additional asset Experience in verifying onground instrument data processing systems Experience in development of test data sets and processor prototypes Knowledge of relevant spaceborne observation instruments EPSSG satellites will embark sounders and imagers from the ultraviolet to the microwave range, a scatterometer and a radiooccultation instrument Experience in specification of operational products for earth observation missions.
