Principal Engineer United States Reston, Virginia Context The Principal Engineer designs satellite network solutions for SES SG Customers. As part of proposal efforts, leads engineering teams to design and develop complete satellite engineering solutions. Must display extensive design knowledge in the following disciplines RF Systems, IP network design and engineering, terrestrial systems design, SATCOM System Designs, Implementation, Modulation Schemes, encoding and complex VSAT network Design using TDMA and Spread Spectrum technology and other leading edge technologies. ExperienceQualifications Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering Prior experience in US Military, NATO or Federal Government Contracts 10 15 years experience with Satellite Network Design, and Satellite Communications Systems including turn key designs Indepth understanding of technical information defined in CSSRs and PWS Experience with spectrum managementplanning, secondary disciplines in general facility, power and sub system design Extensive background in Satellite Communications and Spectrum Management Ability to interpret complex terrestrial engineering requirements Ability to articulate technical solutions for proposals Extensive knowledge of satellite link budgets Ability to work with sales team and perform sales engineering activities. Five years experience in satellite network design Knowledge of MC systems, SNMP Architecture and Network Management Systems Extensive knowledge of iDirect equipment Excellent knowledge of communications systems design and implementation Excellent interpersonal and communications skills oral and written Ability to effectively interact with senior management, BD and SES technical resources Excellent organizational skills and a team player Essential Job Functions Responds to U. S. Government requests for proposals by providing engineering solutions Leads engineering efforts in support of request for proposals Generates and develops equipment installation plan and service acceptance test plans Generates Statement of Work for equipment integrators and service providers Specifies equipment, and services as per design solutions and requirements Generates engineering drawings and documentation Provides technical support to field operations personnel in resolving circuit problemsissues Designs solutions for specific customer and program requirements Assists Sales and Account executives with defining requirements Maintains working and up to date knowledge of not only SES GS satellite fleet, but of all satellite vendors that could provide satellite solutions viewed either as as partners or competitors Evaluates existing infrastructure and customer solutions for upgradesimprovements Attends customer meetings and conferences as necessary Develops vendor relationships with new and existing suppliers SES Government Solutions is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
