Space Applications Services performs space system, software and operations engineering for the European Space Agency ESA, national space agencies, and the space industry. We are involved in international unmanned and manned spacecraft programmes. The company develops and integrates crew systems, payloads and equipment for the International Space Station and complex ground segment systems where Product Assurance and Safety PAS is crucial. We are seeking experienced staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position at the Company HQ in Zaventem Brussels Product Assurance and Safety Engineer PPQASAJOB002 Tasks and Responsibilities The Product Assurance and Safety Engineer will be assigned to various development project teams and report to the Company PA Manager. Heshe will be responsible for PAS activities primarily in manned space projects hardware, software and services covering Process Product Quality Assurance, Configuration Control, Reliability and Safety as well as contributing to the further development of the Company Quality Management System. Tasks include Taking responsibility for PAS matters in projects o Preparing project PAS plans, acceptance data packages, and other PAS documentation for project reviews. o Approval of test and verification plans and supporting procedure preparation. o Supporting procurement decisions for CommercialOffTheShelf COTS equipment and selection of qualification processes. o Monitoring the manufacturing, integration and test activities, maintain logbooks, performsupport key inspection point activities. o Supervise and support environmental tests in external facilities. o PA for the verification, qualification, acceptance delivery activities. o Monitoring and assessing the implementation of PAS requirements internally and at subcontractors. o Generate and track NCRsSPRsRFAsPADsCritical Items. Organize and conduct NCRSPR Reviews. o Prepare Safety Data Packages and support Safety Reviews. Actively contributing to the development of the Company Quality Management System. Qualifications and Experience For this position we are looking for candidates with a university degree in engineering or comparable qualification. We require prior experience with Product Assurance and Safety, preferably in the spaceflight domain, and especially manned spaceflight. Experience of the following is an advantage ESA and ECSS standards. Knowledge of the ISS and manned spaceflight environment, including safety approval process, other relevant frameworks like CMMI, ISO, PMBOK, ISO9001. Experience with Qualification of COTS equipment for the space environment. Candidates need to have excellent communications skills in English both spoken and written, and be polyvalent and have an active problem solving attitude.
