The GSA Security Department proactively contributes to the fulfilment of GSA missions by providing the security expertise and support in order to achieve successful security accreditation of the systems, secure programmes implementation and exploitation and ensure a wide, secure and sustainable use of the Public Regulated Service PRS . The Registry Control Officer RCO is an essential element of the GSA Central Security Office established in the GSA Security Department. The RCO is responsible for the administration and upkeep of the classified document register and for the day to day administration of classified documents. The RCO duties include the handling, sending and receiving of all classified documents. The Registry Control Officer assists the Local Security Officer LSO in the discharge of his responsibility regarding the handling of EU Classified Information EUCI and compliance with relevant security rules and procedures. The tasks and responsibilities shall in principle include without limitation Task 1 Maintaining the register of classified documents ensure that reproduction, receipt, dispatch, archiving and disposal of every copy of each document e.g. paper, disks, CDROMs, etc. marked CONFIDENTIEL UE EU CONFIDENTIAL and above are recorded in the register Task 2 Deputising, if required, for the Local Security Officer Task 3 COMSEC duties Crypto Custodian role Task 4 Carrying out general security responsibilities In hisher normal role or in such backup roles, the RCO shall be available for oncallstandby duties outside normal working hours availability by phone with ability to come back to the site within predefined elapsed times that will be established to meet operational external requirements, e.g. to investigate promptly the potential compromising of confidentialsecret documents or information. The RCO may be required to undertake missions andor temporary detachments to the GSMCFR Site SaintGermain en Laye, France, GSMCUK Site Swanwick, and occasional ones to Brussels, Belgium.
