HE Space is a successful international space company. For 30 years, we have been supporting our customers with qualified experts in the field of engineering, science and administration. We are currently looking for a Science Operations Software Documentalist to support our customer in Spain. Science Operations Software Documentalist Key Tasks and Responsibilities In this role you will be responsible for leading the efforts to document the Herschel Data Processing system, keeping up with software, product and calibration changes. You will have the following responsibilities Maintain and develop the Herschel Interactive Processing Environment HIPE documentation in DocBook Coordinate Editorial Board activities including organisation of telecons and facetoface meetings Liaise with the developer of the help system Steer and prioritise development according to user needs Maintain and develop documentation on the HSC TWiki Develop and maintain Known Issues and Whats New pages for each HIPE version Maintain the HIPE Community Wiki Monitor and reply to user comments on HIPE documentation pages and Wiki pages Maintain the learnhipe Twitter account Develop video tutorials and maintain the HIPE Academy YouTube channel. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in computer science, physics, signal processing, or equivalent Several years relevant experience in technical writing and software engineering coding Java applications Excellent technical writing skills and experience of writing content for Wikis, in particular TWiki Good knowledge of DocBook, Java and Jython Experience developing video tutorials. Knowledge of video recording software such as Camtasia Studio Working knowledge of CVS Some knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript is desirable Some knowledge to develop under UNIX based systems Linux Experience in scientificastronomical data reduction systems and algorithms would be an asset Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Fluency in English is mandatory, the knowledge of another European language will be an advantage. This job is located near Madrid. We are looking for candidates who are available from April 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.
