Senior Communications Systems Engineer mf Ref SES0302 Region Europe Location Luxembourg Betzdorf Company SES Category Other Engineering Technical Position Staff Context Lead Support the Project Realisation in the field of InterCompany, External and Governmental Institutions Design, specification and implementation of ground communication solutions Design, specification and implementation of software applications and services Presales activities, such as preparation of technical commercial proposals Product service development of the SES TechComs Business and Operations Support Systems product portfolio Responsibilities Satellite communications and applications in general and more specific Communications System design, specification and tests Radio Frequency, Amplification and Antenna systems Digital Signal Processing e.g. filter, phase and amplitude control Strong background in software development e.g. ObjectOriented designprogramming Design Patterns and Best Coding Practices Database Design WebService technologies and Middleware Computer Science expertise e.g. Network and IP protocols, Security, Hardware, Application Integration . The customer needs to either support or be responsible for Design, evaluate and implement networking and applications infrastructure required to support satellite and hybrid communication systems Procure equipment, software and services necessary to build a infrastructure and customer promises equipment needed for satellite and hybrid communication systems Supervise design, system architecture and development work, necessary for project implementation, including project control functions Responsible for the design and implementation of applications for the satellite and hybrid communication systems Responsible for the design and implementation of the operations and business support system OSSBSS Propose and acquire ESA and EU funded project in line with company strategy Design and implement softwarecomputer infrastructure andor modifications to comply with specific customer requirements such as transmission and management of digital video, audio and data Provide support to Sales department for the presales activities presales engineering Define future technology requirements in close cooperation with sales and other SES group companies Followup technology development in the field and make recommendations to management regarding evolution of TechCom services and products Provide technical recommendations and expertise to the management in the area of networking, communication protocols and network management Interface customer and collect requirements for the setup of budgets, procurements, installation management and the operational handover of systems Interface project team members and use professional project management tools as appropriated to report and document project realizations Coordinate with other functions Project Control, Legal, Finance for the transparent and effective realization of assigned project Manage customer relationships Perform other tasks as required. Experience Qualifications University degree or equivalent technical college with pertinent professional experience in computer science andor telecommunications Communication network with emphasis on TCPIP running over different physical media IP routing, SNMP, IPSec, IP Multicast, mobile and wireless IP, cable modems Experience in a system design, network design, deployment and operations Medium to large scale software design and implementation experience Knowledge of the satellite RF technologies and satellite based communication networks Experience in VSAT networks andor network planning and modelling would be additional asset Software programming languages Java, CC, Python, Groovy, Maven Practical experience with SOA, ESB, EJB, WS, BPMN 2.0 and other J2EE Technologies Expertise in software architecture design and patterns Automated testing methodologies MPEGDVB and ADSBAIS experience is an advantage Familiarity with ECSS standards in a software system context Personal skills communication skills, analytical sense, coordination and priority setting facilities, problem perception, assessment and solving, autonomy and team work, flexibility and mobility Willing to travel internationally, and meet directly with Customers, Vendors worldwide Fluent in English, have additional knowledge of another language of the EMEA region.
