Senior Manager, Fleet Development Betzdorf Luxembourg or Washington DC USA In this role you are responsible for contributing to the multiyear planning and development of the SES global GEOMEO satellite fleet including its supporting ground infrastructure. You play an active role in ensuring the rollout of the global fleet, determines and prioritizes future satellite procurements and you are responsible for leading a crossfunctional team to develop the design and corresponding business case for individually assigned future satellite procurements. Once requirements are established you lead the development of the corresponding business case, work in close coordination with the Procurement Planning group in the development and issue of RFP, negotiate with vendors, contract award as well as remain engaged throughout the construction period regarding any items that may impact the overall business case. In addition, as the fleet strategy considers optimisations of the fleet in maintenance of spectrum assets to generate new commercial opportunities, you assess alternatives for the redeployment of existing SES assets and or third party assets by managing cross functional teams Spectrum, Sales, Product Development, Sales Engineering, Corporate Strategy, Technology, Finance, Legal and Regulatory and provide an overview of the financial impact positive or negative to the organization and develops the necessary ExComm approval documents where necessary. To be effective in this role, you must possess the soft and hard skills required to manage multi disciplinary teams and develop a high level understanding of the issues and drivers behind each of the functional roles. Your Role Annually refresh the SES Global GEOMEO Fleet Plan and deliver maximum enterprise value and return of asset investment in case of redeployment for GEO and replacement options. Develop recommendations for future satellite infrastructure and associated ground capital expenditure forecasts based on SES global strategy, NBU objectives and product roadmaps resulting in the further development and optimization of SES global network.. The final output must work within the SES Board of Directors approved financial framework and is ultimately approved by the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors Responsible for the assigned satellite and ground infrastructure program concepts and business cases developed through the management of a crossfunctional team for each satellite system procurement Spectrum, Sales, Product Development, Sales Engineering, Corporate Strategy, Technology, Finance, Legal and Regulatory. Develop a business plan for a satellite investment proposal that includes revenue projections, IRR, design parameters, market research, spectrum and regulatory analysis, market strategy, risk assessment etc. Understand, integrate and lead the tradeoff discussion negotiations across all functions converging on a final design and investment case that meets the future strategic needs of the business, while ensuring that any technical, spectrum and regulatory constraintsrisks are understood andor appropriately mitigated Responsible for the structuring and development of the necessary ExComm and SES Board of Directors approval documents for space system procurements Evaluate a variety of space infrastructure approaches as requested to determine the optimal approach and fit to downstream vertical product development GEO, MEO, HEO, other. Understand the competitive environment and build knowledge on what other satellite systems are being launched, what those capabilities are purported and be able to determine how SESs concept stack against these. Stay current with the key technology innovations in the space sector and their roadmaps and understand their applicability to investment cases Work in collaboration with Technology to identify core innovation focus areas to ensure the Global GEO MEO fleet remains relevant and aligned with the NBU sales and product development needs and priorities Analyze fleet health and development as it pertains to the current and future global fleet strategy Lead the assessment of alternatives that support the growth of SES through the redeployment of existing SES assets across NBUs and or third party assets by managing cross functional teams Spectrum, Sales, Product Development, Sales Engineering, Corporate Strategy, Technology, Finance, Legal and Regulatory and provide an overview of the financial impact positive or negative to the organization ultimately leading to recommendations on the global fleet plan Responsible for the creation of the necessary ExComm approval documents for SES third party asset relocations where necessary Support Corporate Development in developing spectrum and National Satellite Programme opportunities Your Qualification, Experience and Competencies Educated to at least degree level in Engineering or Business Management Minimum 710 years experience, preferably in the satellite industry MBA or other masters business degree preference Demonstrated past leadership experience in international portfolio management, business development, salesmarketing, and implementation of organizational growth strategies in multicultural political environments Excellent understanding of the SES competitive environment Prior experience in satellite architecture and configuration is a plus Prior commercial experience of satellite markets, pricing and satellite business cases Excellent analytical skills, innovative spirit, business mind, result orientation, ability to provide practical conclusions Strong ability to triangulate information from a variety of sources that at times may be conflicting to determine the appropriate path forward Strong ability to lead complex tradeoff discussions with a variety of disciplines and a variety of management levels Effective project time management Outstanding human relations, interpersonal and communications skills at all levels both internally and externally Ability to self organize, prioritize and handle multiple timesensitive tasks in a demanding environment Ability to manage complex problems with the objective of developing a solution that adds value to the business Ability to manage a crossfunctional, geographically dispersed team Possess a proactive attitude Demonstration of the ability to be a team player, take initiative, be flexible and take leadership Ability to compile comprehensive and synthetic reports and high quality ExComm SES Board of Directors documents as required Excellent English verbal and written skills, another language is a plus Application deadline for external candidates is 14 June 2018 We offer you A diverse workplace.
