CGI is one of Europes leading suppliers of ground systems for spacecraft monitoring and control and data processing. We work in all the major European navigation, communication, science and earth observation programmes and are specialists in space security and ground control systems. We also share innovative uses of space and satellite technology with commercial organisations to help them solve their business problems effectively. Our software has supported the missions of more than 200 satellites. We are seeking talented junior and experienced software engineers to further strengthen our team and help us deliver software services to our clients and partners, supporting both the routine operations of flying satellites and the development of complex new Ground Segment systems. Our multinational team is based in Darmstadt, Germany, and works with and within our clients satellite operations teams at ESAs Satellite Operations Centre ESOC and EUMETSAT. Some of the satellite missions you could be working with include ESAs XMMNewton, Integral, Mars Express, and Aeolus and EUMETSATs Meteosat Third Generation MTG. If you are enthusiastic about space and spacecraft operations and have prior experience in developing or maintaining spacecraft Mission Control Systems MCS or other Ground Segment data systems, then wed love to hear from you! Aufgaben In your role as a MCS Software Engineer, you would undertake some or all of the following activities Develop, test and maintain software solutions that are part of Mission Control applications and their related data processing systems for multiple European astronomy, EO and weather satellite missions Carry out system validation and verification activities Investigate and troubleshoot raised anomalies in mission control system applications and devise solutions to complex problems Work closely with flight control teams and understand their operational environments Provide user and software support to satellite flight control teams Support Launch and LEOP campaigns Qualifikation Those qualified for the role will be proactive, natural problem solvers and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Required qualifications to be successful in this role include Familiarity with working in a Linux Environment Expertise in C andor Java Expertise in Scripting e.g. bash, python, perl Experience in version control and ticket management tools e.g. Git and Jira Knowledge of ground segment system architectures Prior experience working with SCOS2000, EGSCC, or other commercial, institutional or opensource MCS platforms Good communication and team working skills Good problem solving capabilities and autonomous working attitude Fluency in English written spoken Beneficial qualification to be successful in this role include Experience in continuous integration tools e.g. GitLab or Gerrit Familiarity with ECSS standards e.g. PUS
