Applications from women are encouraged. POST Space Weather Service Coordinator in the Space Situational Awareness SSA Programme Office, Directorate of Operations. This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band on the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESOC, Darmstadt Germany. DUTIES The postholder will report to the SSA Programme Space Weather Manager SWM and will support him in the overall development, implementation and coordination of the space weather services in the SSA Space Weather Segment. Specific duties will include supporting the SWM in defining and maintaining the requirements for the space weather services and products and the space weather service development roadmaps supporting the SWM in planning and implementing the SSA Space Weather Segment system including the federated Expert Service Centres, Data Centres and other system elements monitoring the implementation, testing and validation of the space weather applications, tools and services supporting the overall implementation of the SSA Space Weather Segment utilising the data from spaceborne and groundbased observation systems and providing space weather services to the end users under the supervision of the SWM, interfacing with the teams in other ESA directorates for the implementation of the space weather services and technology development activities e.g. feasibility studies, space weather modelling, participating in project, system and mission reviews and evaluations of procurement packages as required. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in space physics, space weather or solar physics, and significant working experience with space weatherrelated topics. This experience should include practical experience in setting up space weather services as minimum precursor services in more than one space weather service domains and testing and validating the services in collaboration with the end users. Experience from working in several space weather service domains and with endtoend system design and development would be an asset. Candidates should also have extensive experience in managing international industry contracts and in communicating with international partners including space agencies, international entities and the scientific community. Experience in explaining and lecturing space weatherrelated topics to the academic community, students and general public will be an asset. Applicants should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should have the ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff in general, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. CLOSING DATE The closing date for applications is 15 November 2016.
