Job description For our customer, ESAESTEC, we are seeking a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to provide temporary support on ISS robotics missions, in particular the European Robot Arm ERA project, at ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Responsibilities The post holder will report to the head of the Robotics and Future Projects office, in the Directorate of the Human Spaceflight and Operations. The scope of this post includes Operations engineering for the European Robotic Arm ERA project and other future projects such as technology demonstrations on the International Space Station ISS. Liaising with the European Astronauts Centre EAC in Cologne, Germany the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre GCTC and RSC Energia, Moscow, Russia, for instructor and crew training issues, including maintenance of the ERA Astronaut Training Database ATD. Software management andor rapid software prototyping for the projects in the office. Logistics organisation for ERA integration and launch campaign. Support the Project Office and Division in other tasks as required. Due to the shortterm nature of this position, emphasis shall be placed on Support to the ERA integration and preparations for launch campaign foreseen end 2018. Compilation of test plans, procedures, and reports for operational interfaces. Amendmentsconfiguration control of the ERA Support Centre Security Management Plan. Support during an ERA Support Centre security audit. This is a full time located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The requested period of work is midApril to midOctober 2018 approx. 6 months. A period of handover is foreseen at start and end of the assignment. Extension will be subject to further work evolution. Qualifications Competencies The successful candidate will have A university degree Masters in Space Engineering or relevant technical discipline and, ideally, at least 4 years relevant working experience. System and Software Engineering experience. Experience in space ground support operations. Prior knowledge of the International Space Station Programme and in particular USOCGround Controller environments would be very useful. Detailed knowledge in the areas of networksvirtual networks, network protocols, network components and of firewall systems would be a distinct advantage. Capability to work in a team with other ESA entities as well as with external partners. Candidates should be rigorous, have good communication skills and be able to transfer technical knowhow in a clear and concise manner. What can Terma Offer?
