Moreover, we actively manage your professional development, training and career progression. For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for an System Engineer for Copernicus Data Services. Tasks This position is for System Engineering services to be undertaken as part of the Copernicus Program within the Data and Information Access Services DIAS activities. The primary purpose of DIAS is to ensure that the uptake of Copernicus data and information is maximized across a broad range of user groups and that Copernicus is able to provide the critical mass and focal point for stimulating innovation and the creation of new business models based on EO data and information, taking into account the challenges of Big Data. The engineering service provided shall perform system engineering tasks in support to the Copernicus Programme and in particular to DIAS Data and Information Access Services activities within the Data Services Competence area in relation to already existing frame contracts with industry for its implementation. The following main tasks shall be performed Contributing to the analysis, generation and management of requirements and related Agile methods applied for work execution with industry Contributing to the architecture and design of Copernicus related components Contributing with the review of industry implementations and perform testing prototyping Contributing to the definition of technical interfaces with the external partners and service providers Preparation of relevant documentation Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary. Essential requirements The key persons shall have a minimum of five years of experience in the specific field of system engineering, such as user requirements assessment, system architecture definition, development activities and experience of being directly involved in the evolution of systems or services in a highlyavailable 247 environment. The following skills and experiences are mandatory Systems architecture covering areas such as virtualization, cloud computing, orchestration, hosted processing, EO data access formats and security Working experience with industry standards for interoperability OGC, Inspire Solid Background in software engineering, development In depth knowledge of scripting languages Python Demonstrated experience in writing of formal technical documentation Have demonstrated excellent communication and team working skills Have the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and obtain a system overview. Desirable requirements Working knowledge and experience in the following areas would be considered as assets Jupyter Notebook R language knowledge of system validation and verification Experience in a usercustomer facing environment. Main responsibilities For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for 3 Space Systems Engineers that will contribute to general system engineering activities Analysis and trade off activities Preparation and maintenance of system technical specification. documentation of system design and justification ad hoc internal reviews system level formal reviews. ground segment level activities as required Support IVV activities Satellite MC Ensuring that operational aspects from operations concept etc are adequately reflected in the system technical specifications and design. Provide input and support to the customisation of the Packet Utilisation Standard PUS specific to EPSSG and documentation of the results. Provide input and support to the customisation of other satellite related ECSS standards Requirements maintenance Maintain the system specification tree and baseline. Analyse new versions of lower level technical documents for coherence with system and incorporation into system baseline. Act as book captain for the System Requirements Document SRD. Collating and analysing comments, proposed changes from internal and external reviews and making recommendations on newupdated requirements. Maintain the traceability of system requirements to higher and lower level specifications using DOORs. ICD design and maintenance Implementation of any changes to the system model identified in order to aid the interface documentation. Coordination and definition of technical interfaces with the external partners and service providers Organisehold meetings and workshops with external and major internal interface partners to establish interface detailsagreements Generate and maintain the system Interface Control Documents ICD. Maintenance of the EPSSG system level model using the Vitech CORE modelling tool. Ensuring the model is up to date with any system level changesevolution especially in the area of interfaces Configuration control and documentation of the system model Update of the model with respect to interfaces at system level Coordination with the ground segment for model updates to ensure consistency between systemground segment Ideal candidate Mandatory University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent. Extensive experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground systems. In some or all of the following experience Experience of Satellite Monitoring and Control using ECSS PUS standards services. Capability to prepare system requirements and design documents, and to perform system level analyses for complex polar satellite systems. Experience of requirements management using formal configuration control proceduresprocesses. Experience of writing technical requirements preferably to ECSS standards Experience of establishing and maintaining traceability between different levels of technical specifications. Experience of interface management and definition. Familiarity with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition. Demonstrated capability to prepare and manage ICD. Experience in system modelling Experience of interface management and definition. One or more of the following Familiarity with the CORE design tool from Vitech. Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering MBSE Experience with DOORs. Assigned as integrated support in the Software Systems Engineer function to the Vega and Space Rider Development Programme, Space Transportation Development Department, reporting to the Launcher System Development Avionics Manager, the postholder is responsible for all Vega and Space Rider technical activities in the flight, ground and verification facility software areas and for supporting guidance, navigation control GNC algorithm engineering. For Vega, the range of activities encompasses development of VegaC, VegaE and relevant Vega spinoffs e.g. Space Rider, SSMS dispenser, Venus. Duties Duties will notably include managing technical activities under the Vega and Space Rider Programme defining technical requirements specifications, architecture and interfaces with other subsystems, design definition, development, validation and qualification relevant to VegaC and Space Rider software and GNC algorithms, including failure detection isolation recovery apportioning technical requirements from system level to software and GNC, defining the relevant internalexternal interface specifications, from launch system down to launcher system and subsystems, launch base and launch range reviewing critically the engineering activities, in particular the performance of VegaC and Space Rider software and GNC algorithms including ascent, orbital, reentry and precisionlanding phases contributing to VegaC and Space Rider verification and validation strategy within the area of responsibility, in coordination with the system and avionics, including simulation and test facilities SWIL, HWIL campaigns participating in tradeoffs to select the most suitable sensors and actuators and advanced control techniques to meet the system VegaC and Space Rider performance requirements providing technical management of software and GNC in Vega production, in particular for the mission acceptance process, supporting the process for flight anomalies and nonconformances, assessment of requests for waivers or deviations, surveillance of the change proposal process and impacts on Vega launcher qualification status drafting the relevant statement of work, evaluating industrial offers, supporting the negotiation process for industrial contracts within this area of responsibility evaluating industrial deliverables and their formal acceptance by ESA within this area contributing to prepare milestones and reviews, including specific software and GNC reviews for the VegaC and Space Rider programs supporting exploitation activities relevant to flight trajectory reconstruction, comparing performance levels derived from flight data against predictions and GNC requirements. Experience of algorithm prototyping including closedloop and Montecarlo simulation 3DOF, 6DOF will be an asset.
