Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced System and Services Operations Engineer SSyOE for the Copernicus Sentinel3 Earth Observation mission. The SSyOE will provide support to the operation of the Sentinel3 Ground System, as well as its evolution. The main duties of the SSyOE will include the support to System operations in a realtime operations environment Endtoend operations monitoring Operational interfaces within the ground segment, and to external partners, including maintenance of operational documentation Communications systems operations Security operations Infrastructure operations and evolution Multimission operations, including mass storage and archiving System Evolutions Manual and Automated system and satellite operations including planning and scheduling Responsibilities The role comprises a range of tasks including the provision of support to the routine operation of the Sentinel3 ground segment, as well as its evolution to include new functionality and system operations. You will be responsible for the definition and maintenance of the routine operations procedures pertaining to system operations and the interfaces of the key systems within the ground segment. You will acquire and maintain a systemwide view of the EUMETSAT ground segments, wherever this could impact the Sentinel3 ground segment. You will review any planned changes to the system configurations for the Sentinel3 ground segments, and support the investigation of anomalies encountered through the routine system and ground segment operations. You will provide support to the operations preparation for recurrent Sentinel3 satellites into the existing systems. You will interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade, where this affects the Sentinel3 ground segment and system operations. Further details of the tasks and responsibilities can be provided on request. This is a fulltime position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany with a planned starting date in January 2016. The position may also require standby and callout support on occasion. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a university degree, in a relevant technical discipline or other suitable qualification.
