Job description For our customer, the European Space Agency ESA, we are seeking an experienced a technologyRD Technical Manager to work at ESAs ESTEC site in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Responsibilities You will be assigned to ESAESTECs Technology Implementation section within the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management DTEC. You will support the management and implementation of ESAs technology programmes run from DTEC, the General Support Technology Programme GSTP and of the Technology Development Element of the Basic Activities, by carrying out the following main tasks Evaluation of proposals for technology RD activities on their technical merit, consistency and defined priorities. Preparation of the planning of the Technology programmes and of inflight demonstration opportunities in close collaboration with representatives from technical support and programme departments. Managing assigned RD activities. Monitoring of the implementation of the programmes and of activities, as appropriate, and provision of management information as required. Monitoring of the consistency of the various ProgrammesInitiatives with respect to other ongoing technology programmes and defined industrial policy objectives. Evaluation of the results and support the dissemination of technology achievements e.g. support the preparation of workshops and final presentation days This is a fulltime position located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The requested start of work is May 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Qualifications Competencies The successful candidate shall have A PhD or Msc in an Engineering topic or equivalent preferably space related. An additional qualification in Business Administration would be an asset. Familiarity and at least 4 years of relevant working experience in the RD area and technology development processes. Particular experience in the space sector is a distinctive advantage. Knowledge of ProgrammeProject management and controlling methods and tools. Ability to interface with ESA staff at all levels management, technical, administrative etc.. Demonstrated ability to analyse and synthesise complex information. Good verbal and written communications primarily English. Rigor, commitment and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks. Proactive attitude to solving problems, identify priority actions and to handle high workload. What can Terma Offer?
