US Apparel Imports in 4th Quarter and full 2019: China vs. Rest of World (Quarterly Report)

China has lost significant shares of the US import market in the fourth quarter of 2019, in most apparel categories. The 15% additional tariffs imposed by Washington have resulted in a dramatic fall in Chinese shares in cotton apparel categories where other sources can replace China. In man-made fiber categories, China's decline has been more limited, as reflected by our statistical review comparing US apparel imports from China with shipments from the Rest of the World (RoW) for every category of products, in volume, value, and unit value terms. Historical data cover the fourth quarter of the past five years and full-year data from 2014-19. [ more ]
