The new depreciation of the rupee has resulted in lower yarn export prices in dollar terms, whereas domestic prices were supported by a jump of fiber import prices in local currency terms. Viscose fiber prices have continued rising in the last seven days in China, and have also been raised in Pakistan. Production levels have been reduced in China, offering strong support to market prices. We have introduced this week a new table with monthly average offers in China. Our weekly report covers the viscose/rayon staple fiber and filament markets over the last 12 months. Viscose spun yarn prices in China, India, and Pakistan are also available. Cotton linter, cotton pulp and wood pulp prices on domestic and import markets are being tracked over the last 12 months.

Apparel exports from Bangladesh have remained very strong in the first quarter this year, although with different results depending on destinations. Exports to the French and US markets have recovered, whereas shipments were further surging to Japan. Unit prices have been kept under control as the sharp rise of labor costs has not yet been taken into account. Our statistical series provide a comprehensive view of Bangladesh's clothing exports in the 1st quarter 2015-2019, including volume, value, and unit value changes per destination.
