Mongabay: Efforts to slow destruction of tropical forests seem to be paying off in a number of countries, argues a new report published by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS). First Crop Progress Report

By P. Scott Shearer, Bockorny Group, Washington, DC USDA released it first Crop Progress report on this years crop. The report rates the corn crop at 76 percent in good or excellent condition in the top 18 corn-producing states for the week ended June 1.
