A Spanish leader company in Aerospace Engineering and Scientific services with more than 45 years of experience working for NASA and 35 years working for ESA seeks a candidate for a postion of Level 1 2 Processor Engineer located at ESTEC Netherlands. Specific Tasks This work will be carried out for the ADM Aeolus Project. The contractor will report to the Engineering Manager and be in liaison with the Instrument Engineer and the System Engineer. Specific tasks include the following To be the Project responsible for the E2SL1L2 processors o Manage the development of the E2SL1L2 processor follow the daytoday activity, review progress reporting, attend and followup progress meetings. o Implement theAnomaly Review process organise Anomaly Review Boards, Maintain ARTS, Followup action items. o Accept new E2SL1L2 software by installing with help of TEC support, reviewing associated documentation. o Run E2SL1L2 software in house 1. For acceptance, 2. To cross check Industrys performance budgets, 3. For back ground engineering, 4. To generate test data for internal use, if needed. Support the development of the L2 processor o Accept new L2 software with help of TEC support for installing, o Reviewassess associated documentation, o Attend and followup progress meetings, o Implement the Anomaly Review process, o Run the L2 standalone software 1. For acceptance, 2. To generate test data for internal use, if needed. Support the Project for performance related issues o Following of Industrys work on ground processing and algorithms, o Evaluation of Industrys mission error budgets and modelling, o Translation of instrument characteristics to mission level, o Review the Flight Operation Manuals for relevant volumessections. Support the CALVAL campaign o Support the revision of the CalVal plan, o Support the preparation phase, o Support the CalVal after Launch. Support the Project in general terms o Support the Project Scientist, o Support the system verification process, o Attend weekly team meetings, o Report to the team and flag potential issues. Requirements The Candidate shall have a university degree or equivalent qualification in Physics or Engineering. Extended knowledge of the Earth Observation payload data ground segment, including processes such as calibration, monitoring routine data processing processors and facilities interactions with other stakeholders FOS, end users. Extended knowledge of data analysisprocessing statistics, error budgets simulations data tools such as Mathlab. Working knowledge on remote sensing techniques, with a focus on optical systems transmissions, backscatter, extinction processing algorithms detectors. Good knowledge of computer environment Linux, GNU compilers, Mathlab, scripting such as python, shell scripts, perl. Affinity with numerical weather prediction is an advantage. Good level of autonomy and organizing skills are desired Fluent in the English language spoken and written knowledge of other languages is an asset. Specific qualification requirements A Masters degree or equivalent in Engineering or Physics. A minimum of 4 years of directly relevant work experience. Extended knowledge of the Earth Observation payload data ground segment, including processes such as calibration, monitoring routine data processing processors and facilities interactions with other stakeholders FOS, end users. Extended knowledge of data analysisprocessing statistics, error budgets simulations data tools such as Mathlab. Working knowledge on remote sensing techniques, with a focus on optical systems transmissions, backscatter, extinction processing algorithms detectors. Good knowledge of computer environment Linux, GNU compilers, Mathlab, scripting such as python, shell scripts, perl. Affinity with numerical weather prediction is an advantage. Good level of autonomy and organizing skills are desired. Good communication and analytical skills to interface with colleagues within ESA and with external partners and industry are essential. The candidate must be able to work in English. All applicants must be legally allowed to work in the Netherlands. ie. already have a European passport. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 29 annual days holiday.
