SATURN Satellite Networks UK is looking to recruit key personnel for a new satellite manufacture in the UK which will disrupt the existing satellite communications market. StructuralMechanical Engineer Description Based at our new stateoftheart facilities in the UK, Saturn satellite manufacturing will be producing compact communications satellites 200Kg500Kg for Geostationary, MidEarth Orbit and LowEarth orbit systems for export around the world. Our unique payload of shaped antenna systems and programmable digital processor will allow full communications services to be provided inorbit at a costpoint which is a fraction of the cost of traditional communications satellites. To carry the communications payload we will be producing a new spacecraft platform in the UK, and utilising the latest techniques in automated engineering. We are therefore seeking the highest calibre individuals to join our platform design and manufacturing team. More than just technical competence we are looking for people with commitment and ambition. Position Summary The Structuralmechanical engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the platform structure design, composite manufacture, insulation MLI and mechanisms The Structuralmechanical engineer will be responsible for defining the spacecraft mass budgets The Structuralmechanical engineer will be responsible for defining the structural qualification sine vibration, shaker testing and verification Responsibilities Define the spacecraft structure in terms of dimensions, composite material and panel connectivity Work with the Lead platform design engineer on the placement and mounting of internal equipments, external equipment and interfaces Work with the Lead platform design engineer on the tradeoff between modular and legobrick design. Define the flatsat test structure and panels with a view to panel to flight assembly if necessary. Work with the payload manufacturing team to ensure that the accommodation for the payload footprint, mechanical interfaces etc. are defined. Liaise with the Program Manager for the procurement of structural and mechanical components. Define the insulation MLI or protective coverage Define any external mechanisms Solar array, thrusters, antenna systems placement and footprint. Liaise with the Power Subsystem engineers mechanisms for the solar array SADM of necessary Liaise with the Propulsion engineers for propulsion control mountings and routing. Liaise with the Payload and TTC engineers for structural mounting Liaise with ElectricalThermal engineers for the harness mounting and routing, thermal sensor placing etc. Produce the mass budget Liaise with launcher authority for production of the launcher interface and launch documentation Ensure that all platform program documentation for the structure and mechanics ICDs, diagrams, budgets etc. is produced. Qualifications and experience Minimum of 2 years professional experience in spacecraft onboard computer design and implementation preferably on platform systems. Strong knowledge of platform structural design and integrity including CAD design if necessary. Ability and willingness to include latest generation processes and techniques for manufacturing Strong written and verbal communications skills Strong technical background and proven program history Ability to produce spacecraft budgets and specifications Eligible to work in the UK UK security clearance may be sought

Tasks The successful candidate will be supporting operations preparation activities for the Mission to the Moon MttM mission and for other potentially upcoming missions supported by SCISYS. The candidate will be able to contribute with hisher skills from the very beginning of the project lifecycle. For the MttM mission, heshe will be an integral member of the operations team, conducting operations preparation and successive execution for the successful lunar transfer, soft landing on the Moons surface and lunar rovers delivery of the ALINA spacecraft. For this position, in support to the MttM mission, the following tasks are currently envisaged, but the assignments might change during the projects development depending on the operational needs. Similar tasks would need to be performed for operations preparations for other potentially upcoming missions. Review, refine and complement relevant documentation generated during preceding phases Support the development of all the required documentation as per operational phase Define, implement and validate the Flight Operations Procedures for LEOP, platform and payload commissioning, lunar transfer, lunar capture, powered descent, soft landing on the Moons surface and lunar rovers delivery Train, prepare training material and provide training to other members of the operations team Define, coordinate, conduct and document system validation activities as simulation campaigns, SVTs, mission rehearsals, etc. Test and validate all operational items Perform operational configuration management Participate in technical meetings, formal reviews and scheduling and planning meetings Conduct LEOP, platform and payload commissioning, lunar transfer, lunar capture, powered descent, soft landing on the Moons surface and lunar rovers delivery operations as member of the MttM operations team Essential requirements The successful candidate will have A university masters degree in aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics or equivalent Demonstrated and consolidated experience in the field of spacecraft operations preferably more than 5 years, preferably in interplanetary missions operations. Fluency in English. Knowledge of German would be an advantage. We are looking for a motivated, passionate and proactive team player, able to work autonomously, showing initiative and selfmanagement skills when performing under time pressure and stress.
