DUTIES The postholder will be initially assigned as integrated support to the Galileo Project Office and report to the GNSS System Security Unit in the Galileo Security Office, Galileo Programme Department, Directorate of the Galileo Programme and Navigation related activities and will be in charge of coordinating and participating to the activities related to the validation of the Public Regulated Serviced at enduser level, including navigation performance, Signals Characteristics and access control aspects planning the associated PRS validation test campaigns including the definition of the associated test plans, test cases and test procedures in coordination with the Mission operations teams coordinating and executing the associated PRS validation test campaigns taking into account the security constraints and preparing the associated test reports in support of the Operations Service Readiness Reviews ensuring the availability of the necessary system tools including the PRS Test User Receivers as well as all necessary tools to support enduser performance validation coordinating and executing activities in the PRS Laboratory at ESAESTEC to be used as a reference setup for the measurements i.e. Signals and Performance campaigns using test user receivers conducted in the field participating to ESA and EU working groups dealing with space security matters, and in particular with the Galileo Security Board Working Groups, and support the EC in preparing and implementing the PRS Service Implementation Plan supporting other Members of the Galileo Security Office for the execution of the following activities o PRS User Segment Security Accreditation Activities GSAPGF4 o execution of Security Chain activities related to PRS o development and implementation of Security Elements linked to the PRS chain KMF, GRCP, GSMC, TURP, PRS Receivers o execution of Routine Security Operations and Services related activities o execution of MS Experimentation security activities. regular reporting to the Head of the GNSS System Security Unit. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Telecommunications engineering and a good background in satellite navigation, signals and security engineering applied to space systems together with a substantial experience in Phase CD Projects. Knowledge of user receiver techniques for satellite navigation systems Galileo, GPS is also a prerequisite. Previous involvement in field tests and demonstration campaigns for space security systems preferably in the field of satellite navigation. Candidates are expected to be able to set priorities and identify practical solutions. They should be able to work autonomously as well as in a team environment. Applicants should have good organisation and communication skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest for innovative technologies. Candidates must be eligible to security clearance by their national security administration. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset. A vacancy has arisen for an OnBoard Software Validation Responsible with Astrium in Stevenage. This is a team leader position typically working with teams between 28 people. You will be responsible for technically managing the software validation team. Working with the overall software technical leaderresponsible, you will be instrumental in creating the software validation strategy. You shall be responsible for the validation activities of all the developed software components in compliance with the Software Validation Plan SVP as well as the specification, monitoring, acceptance and control of the associated facilities numerical and hardwarebased software validation facilities NSVFHSVF and the delivery preparation. You will have overall responsibility to ensure the correct calibration of the NSVF with regard to the tests run on the HSVF. Opportunities to travel work for periods in other Astrium offices in France or Germany or for reviews at Customer sites are possible. Limited in most cases to a few days, but longer periods could be available for strategic work needs. The Department is involved in the complete lifecycle of activities relating to OnBoard Software development. These range from requirements capture, support to System Software engineering, design, implementation, verification and validation, and maintenance. The software developed by this Department is of an embedded real time nature. Software is deployed within the Satellite, and Satellite Instrumentation, to provide the required Functionality and Control. Typically, the software would be designed using UML methodology implemented in the ANSIC language contain a number of hardware interface drivers and incorporate the use of a Realtime Operating System. Its application elements would normally include Telemetry Telecommand communications Attitude and Orbit Control Systems Platform system management power, thermal etc. and Mode control Payload control and management and Health MonitoringRecoveryReporting. Specialist applications will depend on the mission. We strive for maximum reuseinheritance of architecture component software in order to minimise program costs and schedule. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Manage Validation Work Packages WP by delegation of the Project Manager. To monitor and control the validation activities components tests, integrated tests, HWSW tests, global tests. Coordination of the software validation team Projectspecific training, progress, technical support. Establish and maintain the task cost estimates of WPs under your responsibility. Perform cost and schedule monitoring of delegated WPs and prepares the Monthly Project Report in coordination with Project Manager e.g. tasks progress, risks. To guarantee compliant application of the Software Validation process within the project. Supporting capture formalisation of onboard software validation requirements of system. Support the definition of the software validation strategy, definition of the software validation plan. Coordinate the production of the validation specifications, the test procedures, the test execution and results analysis within agreed project cost planning budget. Verify the completeness and adequacy of the Software Validation Specification with respect to the System Software Specification and Software Requirements Specification. Define User specification for the hardware and software validation test facilities. Support activities relating to procurement of the project test equipment tools. Performing characterisation tests between hardware and software validation test facilities HSVFNSVF. Technical followup acceptance of test benches. Ensure adequacy and availability throughout the software life cycle. Supporting software validation and system acceptance testing. Produce project metrics and indicators collection, checking, analysis and publishing. Preparation of documentation required for the development and at key reviews e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, QR, and appropriate participation in those reviews. To deliver the validated OnBoard Software on quality, on time, on cost.
