We are currently looking for a Simulator Development Test and Validation Engineer to support our customer in Darmstadt, Germany. Simulator Development Test and Validation Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European organisation providing satellite operations and ground station tracking network services to its users. You will be responsible for the definition, implementation, acceptance and maintenance of mission control systems. The following main tasks are involved Specification of the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users Definition and specification of their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties Acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements Support to the mission operations staff as required in the various operational phases, including System Validation Tests, simulation campaign and in software support coordination as part of the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches Coordination with other internal ESOC or external units, e.g. with the unit supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the unit supplying the ICT systems and services Participation in research and development activities in the area of mission data systems. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in a relevant field or equivalent Knowledge of mission control system, its environment and the relevant infrastructure, including areas such as mission planning, automation, operational database, archiving and data distribution Knowledge and experience in the ESOC software engineering methodology and standards Competence in modern computer languages such as C, C, Java, UML, XML, SQL Familiarity with the ESOC software development environments and systems, including DOORS, HPQC, SDE Change Familiarity with relevant operating systems, including LINUX Fluency in English is mandatory. DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the Galileo Segments, Sites and Operations Security Unit and will act in coordination with the Galileo Operations Procurement Office in the management of the following activities managing the Galileo Security Operations Engineering activities for the implementation of the System SECOPS including the associated SoC and VCD documents managing the Galileo Security Operations Validation activities by ensuring readiness of security procedures for Satellite, Ground Segment and System Test Campaigns managing the operational security interfaces to the Mission Level Operational Bodies Flight Key Cell, CDA, GSMC ensuring the Security Operations readiness for GALILEO Services Provision supporting the Galileo accreditation process as main interface between the industrial operations teams and the Mission Level Accreditation bodies supporting the GALILEO Security Requirements and System Accreditation Unit by ensuring the flow down and implementation of the Mission Level Security Specifications supporting the GALILEO Security Requirements and System Accreditation Unit by ensuring that the different Operations Contractors implement the Security Accreditation Methodology and associated outputs Threat Scenario Coverage both As Designed and As Built coordinating the technical definition, implementation and validation of the operational security measures including ground and space assets coming from Risk Treatment Plans supporting the Galileo Anomaly Review Boards and Configuration Control Boards in the area of Security Operational Activities. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a university degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or Physics, together with a proved good professional experience in the implementation and operations of security systems for space missions. Candidates must hold security clearance by their national security administration and have previous experience in satellite and ground security operations involving classified and crypto equipment. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellent management and organisation skills. Applicants must possess good judgment, integrity and good communications skills. Candidates must be willing to travel. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
