Xiaomi adds more privacy functions to browser following reports of mass data collection

(Telecompaper) Xiaomi smartphones have default browsers that transfer customer data such as sites visited, search queries and navigation information through to Xiaomi servers, Forbes reported citing security experts. The experts said data was even sent when users were on the internet in "incognito mode". The data is transmitted to Alibaba servers rented by Xiaomi. These servers are said to be located in Russia and Singapore, with the web domains belonging to Xiaomi and registered in Beijing.

Xiaomi launches mid-range Redmi Note 10 Lite, Note 9 and Note 9 Pro globally

(Telecompaper) Xiaomi has officially launched three new mid-range smartphones worldwide at an event in Beijing. The new Note 10 Lite is a version of the Note 10 launched last year, albeit with a smaller 64MP Sony IMX686 camera compared to that phone's Samsung-made 108MP lens. It also has an 8MP ultrawide, a 5MP macro and 2MP depth sensor as well as a 16MP selfie camera. The 6.47-inch Note 10 Lite comes with the same Snapdragon 730 SoC as the Mi Note 10 phone and a 5,260mAh battery with 30W fast charging. It will be available from mid-May for EUR 349 for the 6/64GB variant and EUR 399 for the 6/128GB model.

Xiaomi profits fall in Q4 on marketing push to boost overseas growth

(Telecompaper) Xiaomi reported revenues for the fourth quarter of 2019 up 27.1 percent year-on-year to CNY 56.5 billion. Net profit for the period fell to CNY 2.4 billion from CNY 3.4 billion a year earlier, after a sharp rise in marketing and promotional spend to boost sales outside China.

Xiaomi unveils cheaper Mi 10 Lite 5G, along with more connected devices

(Telecompaper) Xiaomi has officially added more products to its Mi portfolio, including the Mi 10 Lite, along the further expansion of its Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro smarpthones, plus five more products, including a few routers, an air purifier and earphones. The Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro were earlier unveiled, and launched in China last month. They will now become available, along with the other devices, in more global markets, Xiaomi said, without giving further specifications.
