The work includes constructing 22 green street planters and planting trees to absorb rain and reduce stormwater runoff. The project will keep about 1.6 million gallons of stormwater out of sewers annually, increase sewer system capacity and reduce basement backups.

Environmental Services is designing a project to repair or replace approximately 5,600 feet, or about one mile, of public sewer pipes in the Mt. Scott-Arleta and Woodstock neighborhoods. Most of the sewer pipes are more than 85 years old and in deteriorating condition. The project will protect the public and the environment by reducing the possibility of sewage releases to homes, businesses and streets.

Piedmont Sewer Repair Project Update: June 10, 2016

Environmental Services continues construction on the Piedmont Sewer Repair Project. The project will repair or replace almost 11,000 feet (over 2 miles) of public sewer pipes in your neighborhood that are on average 90 years old and deteriorating due to age. The work will also include repairing or adding over 2,000 feet of service laterals that connect houses and businesses from the curb to the public sewer in the street.
