ResponsibilitiesDuties Telespazio Germany is seeking an experienced engineer to join our ESTRACK Engineering Service team, based at the European Spaceraft Operations Centre ESOC, in Darmstadt, Germany. ESTRACK is the ESA Tracking Network of global ground stations, comprising a wide array of antenna types, i.e. for deepspace and LEO satellite communications. The facilities within ESTRACK require operations engineering services as provided by Station Maintenance and Operations Engineers SMOE who are assigned to a ground station facility asset. Station Maintenance and Operations Engineers are responsible for providing engineering services required for their assigned facility asset for preparing and maintaining associated antenna facilities during preparation of new support to mission and execution flying phase. The core services of Ground Operations Engineering are as follows Definition of mission specific ground station configuration in the operations preparation phase and after major modifications Supporting MC tailoring for any new mission ESA and external Agencies Validation of station configuration and MC for remote operations Generation of station and related operational configuration of mission specific documentation e.g. Network Configuration Document, Remote and local Procedures, training material during the life time of the mission Investigations of anomalies incidents analysis and problem management affecting the Ground station services to any supported mission Supporting regular meetings with the Ground Station MO team and ESA management QualificationsExperience University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering. You will be directly involved in the routine operations, their evolution and the operations preparation of EUMETSATs Ground Stations GS within the Realtime services and System Operations RSO division for both, LEO and GEO missions especially MSG and MetOP, as well as MTG and MetOPSG. Spiced up with difficult challenges and callouts caused by anomalies during the GS operations, your daytoday tasks will cover Operations of the GS and external GS services, Implementation, verification and operational validation of new Ground Stations and Ground Stations Services and their evolutions, Contribution to the operations preparation and system verificationvalidation for new satellite systems, Provision of support to anomaly investigation, Training of operational personnel for Ground Stations and external Ground Stations Services operations, Contribution to the system verification and validation activities for future satellite systems, including formal system operational scenario validation, SSVTs, IVV, Commissioning and operations rehearsals. You will work in strong cooperation with our team and EUMETSAT engineers across the organization. QualificationsExperience What are we looking for? Maybe for you with at least 2 years of experience in the operations of complex ground stations systems in support of multiple Geostationary GEO andor Low Earth Orbit LEO spacecraft, and experience of verification and validation of such systems. Of course, you are easily understanding the relating physics processes in such satellite instruments together with a university degree in the domain of engineering, science or equivalent. Essential Skills We need you with your strong skills and experience in GS operations, evolution and operations preparation. Of course we rely on your skills in requirements specification, design, validation and verification of complex GS. You should also be used to create, contribute and review technical documentation!
