EE has 9.3 million 4G customers in Q1

(Telecompaper) UK mobile operator EE added 1.7 million 4G customers in the first quarter, taking the total to 9.3 million, up by 224 percent compared to the end of March 2014. It said it was well on track to reach its 14 million 4G customer target by the end of the year. Some 96 percent of new connections chose plans with LTE in the first quarter, nearly half on 4GEE Extra 'double-speed' service. Total connections, including M2M, MVNO and fixed bases, rose 0.6 percent to 30.9 million in the first quarter, compared to 30.7 million in the first quarter of 2014. Postpaid mobile adds, including M2M, rose by 111,000 in the quarter. Postpaid churn was a low 1.2 percent. EE recorded GBP 1.54 of revenue in the first quarter, up 0.5 percent, on a comparable basis, on the year-earlier period. Operating revenue rose by 0.3 percent year-on-year excluding regulatory impacts, but declined by 1.1 percent including them. DTAC revenues, net profit decline in Q1

(Telecompaper) Thai mobile operator DTAC's total revenues for the first quarter increased by 1.9 percent to THB 22.8 billion, mainly boosted by handset sales and mobile data revenue growth, offset by a decline in voice revenue, the company said. Service revenue decreased 3.6 percent year-on-year to THB 16.7 billion. Handset and starter kit sales rose by 35 percent year-on-year, while voice revenue amounted to THB 7.7 billion, which represents a decrease of 18 percent in the period. Data revenue reached THB 7.4 billion, increasing by 13 percent from the first quarter of 2014.

ZTE profit jumps 42% in Q1

(Telecompaper) ZTE said net profit rose 41.9 percent year-on-year in the first quarter to CNY 883 million, boosted by the company's M-ICT strategy, which generated new growth avenues. Basic earnings per share climbed to RMB 0.24, while revenue lifted 10.2 percent to CNY 21 billion. Operating revenue from telecommunications software systems, services and other products increased by 23.4 percent, pulled up by strong growth from video and network terminal products, in addition to services. Revenue from carrier networks increased by 8.9 percent, driven by growth in sales of products such as wireless communication systems, wireline switch and access systems, routers and router switches. Operating revenue from handset terminals was up by 7 percent, reflecting mainly higher sales of 4G handset terminals.
