Strengthening of federal underground storage tank (UST) requirements by U.S. EPA will improve prevention and detection of petroleum releases from USTs. EPA's action aims to strengthen existing requirements and help ensure all USTs in USA meet same release protection standards to better protect people’s health and benefit environment in nation-wide communities. Also, revised requirements will help ensure implementation consistency among states and on tribal lands.
