The yarn/fiber spread however remains relatively low in India whereas much higher in Pakistan. Our monthly report compares cotton fiber and yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, offering a comprehensive view of the yarn/fiber spreads in the three countries. Polyester prices have moved into different directions in China, India and Pakistan in the past month. The surge of prices in Pakistan has not affected gross margins of domestic spinners whereas the yarn/fiber spread was further falling in India. Over the last 12-month period, margins have dropped in India whereas clearly rising in China. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Cotton yarn prices have risen in the last seven days in India and Pakistan and could possibly bottom out in China. Spun polyester prices could now decline in line with a slight decrease of staple fiber prices in China. The viscose market has returned to its long-term stability.
