Mortgage brokers say Canadian banks have started cutting some of the rates they offer their most trusted borrowers, and they could come down even further as the spring real estate market gets into full swing. Robert McLister, the founder of RateSpy.com, says Canada's biggest banks are now offering five-year fixed rate mortgages at an estimated 2.84 per cent to their most qualified borrowers.

Lubbock airport experienced slight decline in passengers in 2014

The number of passengers at the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport dropped a bit in 2014 compared to the previous year, and Kelly Campbell, airport director, says that's part of the cycle airports experience. New car sales in Europe rose by nearly six percent in 2014, ending a long slump in activity that began in 2007, but analysts warn the sector has not yet turned the corner in the region. The European Automobile Manufacturer's Association said last week that 2014 new car sales grew by 5.7 percent, but noted current volumes of activity remain significantly lower than they were before the global financial crisis that drove the sector into six years of decline.
