IBM sues Priceline for patent infringement in U.S. court

IBM filed a lawsuit against Priceline Group Inc on Monday, accusing it of infringing four IBM patents in running its travel and dining websites. International Business Machines Corp asked the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware to bar Priceline from using the patents, to award IBM royalties and to order Priceline to pay IBM's costs and attorney's fees.
DISH Network Wins Multiple Victories in High-Profile Copyright Infringement Matter

After more than two years of legal battles, a California federal judge found that Analysis Group client DISH Network's innovative Hopper set-top box and DVR does not infringe the copyrights of Fox Broadcasting Company's television programming. In her ruling on motions for summary judgment made by both parties, District Court Judge Dolly M. Gee cited the findings of Analysis Group affiliate John Hauser to conclude that the use of the Hopper's "PrimeTime Anytime" and "AutoHop" features were "fair use" under U.S. copyright law.

Raleigh's Salix to wage a second patent infringement fight

Raleigh's Salix Pharmaceuticals will again take on a New Jersey generic drug maker in a patent dispute. It's at least the second time for Salix to bring action against the company, called Par Pharmaceutical , and other Triangle drug developers have tussled with Par in the past as well.

Overstock.com Will Appeal Patent Infringement Case

Online shopping retailer, Overstock.com, Inc. announced it would appeal the $4 million verdict rendered Friday, Jan. 16 in a patent infringement case in Marshall, Texas. Without prior notice, the plaintiff, Droplets, filed its case in 2011, and at trial alleged damages of $12.2 million against Overstock.com for infringement of three related patents, the first of which was filed in 2000, and issued in 2004.

Cree files patent infringement complaints against competitor

Durham LED giant Cree is on the offensive, filing federal complaints that a competing firm, California-based Feit Electric Company, infringed on 10 of its patents. In papers filed with both the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin against Feit and its Asian supplier, Unity Opto Technology Co., Cree requests that the ITC issue an order to exclude "infringing and falsely advertised articles" from entering the United States.
