Tele Columbus to acquire PrimaCom for EUR 711 million

(Telecompaper) Tele Columbus Group announced an agreement to acquire PrimaCom for EUR 711 million. The deal brings together two of Germany's leading mid-tier cable operators. Tele Columbus said the combined company offers growth potential and enables scale efficiencies across the customer and network base. The merger should also support an acceleration in network and product development. The acquisition of PrimaCom will be financed through a combination of existing cash, a fully underwritten financing with senior and junior tranches and a EUR 125 million equity bridge loan. The transaction does not need regulatory approval and is expected to close at the end of July. Together the two operators have around 2.8 million homes connected. Based on 2014 figures, there combined annual revenues are EUR 345 million, and EBITDA reached EUR 154 million.

Telefonica pays EUR 600 mln for 2015-16 La Liga rights

(Telecompaper) Telefonica has reached an agreement with Spain's La Liga for the exclusive rights to broadcast the country's top-tier football league to Spanish viewers for the 2015-16 season. In a joint statement, the parties said the deal amounts to EUR 600 million and covers the exclusive exploitation rights of the top two divisions as well as the domestic cup competition (Copa del Rey).
UPC Ireland to acquire TV3 for EUR 80 million

(Telecompaper) Liberty Global subsidiary UPC Ireland has signed an agreement with Doughty Hanson to acquire Irish commercial broadcaster TV3 for EUR 80 million. An extra sum of up to EUR 7 million is payable based on TV3 hitting certain targets. On completion of the deal, TV3 will become part of Liberty Global group, demonstrating the latter's confidence in both TV3 and the Irish TV and production sectors. TV3 operates two free-to-air channels, the flagship TV3 channel and the youth-oriented 3e. In addition, it has TV3+1 on UPC and Sky, and the 3Player VoD platform. The deal is subject to regulatory approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and a separate media plurality test by the Irish Government.

Moberg Pharma to receive Eurostars grant of EUR 0.9 million

Moberg Pharma AB today announced that a grant of EUR 0.9 million in public funding has been approved by Eurostars for a project proposal related to late-stage development of Moberg Pharma's BUPI project. The Eurostars project "BUPI - a long-acting lozenge with bupivacaine for pain relief of Oral Mucositis in cancer patients" will be managed by Moberg Pharma and includes six external partners in Sweden and Denmark: Oracain ApS, TFS Trial Form Support ApS, Aarhus University Hospital, University Hospital Herlev, PCG Clinical Services AB and Skane University Hospital.

Redknee to buy Orga Systems for EUR 38 million

(Telecompaper) Redknee Solutions announced it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Orga Systems for EUR 38 million cash. Orga's technology and expertise will enhance Redknee's real-time billing and subscriber management platforms for communication service providers and the Internet of Things, adding more than 45 customers in the communications, automotive, energy and railway industries and more than 500 employees across the world. Orga Systems generated 2014 revenue of around EUR 60 million, of which over 45 percent was recurring revenue. The acquisition will be funded through available cash on hand and is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
