(Telecompaper) The owners of Spanish MVNO Pepephone have taken steps to sell the operator for around EUR 200 million, according to unnamed sources cited by business daily El Economista. Javier Hidalgo and Rosauro Varo, current owners of Pepephone, have signed up Spanish bank BBVA to look for potential buyers for the operator, said the sources, adding that its modest size wouldn't pose any regulatory problems. Pepephone launched as an MVNO in Spain in 2007 and has reached nearly half a million customers in its domestic market. The operator recently switched to the Movistar (Telefonica) network and has plans to launch in Mexico in March or April 2016, before rolling out its service in Colombia and other Latin American countries.
