Moreover, we actively manage your professional development, training and career progression. For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a MultiMission Software Librarian at EUMETSAT. Tasks As a member of the CSM Software Librarian team, the consultant shall provide support to the development and maintenance of all current and future operational ground segments. The main duties are the maintenance and the redesign of the asbuilt software build Environments and the building, packaging and distribution of any software that can be built onsite. Furthermore the duties include a range of tasks, from support to the operation of the UNIX and Windowsbased ground segment facilities, to the analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance of software functions. They also include the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance Services. In particular the tasks will include Maintenance and development of the asbuilt software build environments Building, packaging and distribution of software releases and patches Support to programmers with respect to software build and development strategies Support the delivery of software externally developed its installation, configuration and testing Investigation into anomalies, their documentation and classification follow up of the delivery of SW corrections Participation in technical meetings and formal reviews Analysis of the maintenance requirements and identification, procurement or implementation of the tools to fulfil them writing of maintenance procedures Interfacing with external contractors who are providing maintenance services for ground segment facilities Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have experience in the following SW development, configuration controlled software build environments, and experience in SW packaging, installation and configuration for the operation and maintenance of large, realtime Monitoring Control Data Processing systems. Significant work experience in Unix and Unixlike Operating System environments and in Windows and Windows Serverbased environments HeShe should be familiar, to the extent required by the performance of the above tasks, with networking, distributed applications, and TCPIP services. Knowledge and experience of the following programming languages, software tools and processes Essential knowledge and experience in using UnixLinux command line tools Software build environments and tools e.g. autoconfautomake, make, ANT, Maven Source Code control systems, preferably Subversion, CVS or ClearCase Scripting languages e.g. Shell, Perl, TclTk, Python Change Management CC programming languages Java programming language Practical knowledge of as many as possible of the following software tools and products will be an advantage Experience with various software packaging formats RPM, PKG, LPP... VN1401 Strengthening our System Engineering and Projects Division, you will manage upgrades of our MultiMission ground systems. These MultiMission Elements, composed of software, hardware and tools, are implementing key services to our users, like data distribution, archiving and retrieval, but also ground monitoring and infrastructure. These functions are essential to our operational programmes and are reused and upgraded for our future missions. To this end, you will lead projects from architectural design phase through to the entry into operations, interact with several teams and control budgets, plans and schedules. At the same time, you will contribute to the generation of the Ground Segment requirements and to the definition of the Ground Segment architecture for aspects related to the MultiMission Elements. You will therefore need a strong blend of technical, organisational and, in particular, management skills. Qualified to degree level in Computer Science or Software Engineering, you should possess extensive experience in project management of ground segment elements development, preferably in the field of GEOLEO earth observation systems. This should be coupled with a solid technical background in hardware and software aspects, proven leadership ability and ideally familiarity with the full system engineering lifecycle, spanning design, production, integration, verification and validation. Finally, you will preferably be knowledgeable regarding Data Services used for remote sensing applications and will certainly be capable of working effectively in English, with a working knowledge of French.
