You will join the Government Communications Satellite Communications Legal team for a 13 months temporary opportunity fixedterm contract to help the team out during a maternity leave. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Manage UK Satcom activities, which include the responsibility for our company in Norway and KSA and branch office in the UAE. Provide model and bespoke commercial B to B contracts to our internal customers, Commercial and Contract and Sales by advising the best contractual route and manage the process of working with such divisions to ensure that the relevant sections of the agreements are completed, prior to release to external legal counterpart. Attend meetings with external legal counsel to negotiate model and bespoke B to B contracts. Such agreements include, airtime, service, distribution, technology partnership, purchase and supply, teaming, confidentiality and MOUs. Instruct and retain external legal counsel in various jurisdictions, when required. Review, mark up and negotiate third party B to B contracts Advise the senior management in relation to business risks and suggest solutions and legal opportunities to mitigate such risks. Assist the other lawyers within the team with common law contracts, as and when required. Manage other areas of law, such as litigation and employment matters, as and when requested. Travel both within the UK and abroad to meet customers, clients, as and when required. Provide advice and training to internal team members on legal matters, as and when required. Attend management meetings, when requested by the Legal Director. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Legal Degree Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales with working background in the Telecommunications Defence industry. Very good written and verbal communications skills to be able to effectively give legal advice in plain English. Experience with Contract Law and Tax. Experience of Intellectual Property IP. Experience managing legal documents and acts. Experience managing legal risks, providing legal advice. Good communication skills and conflict management skills. Ability to influence others and to manage a trainee through to qualification. Fluency in English, intermediate level of French desirable. You will also act as the key point of contact for regulatory issues EMEA, focusing on Russia, CIS and the Middle East and nearby region. You will work closely with Legal team members responsible for compliance with country sanctions, ITAR and other trade rules, and general compliance issues. You will be expected to support existing data privacy and IT initiatives to ensure SES compliance with all pertinent rules. As Legal Counsel you will support the Legal group by managing regulatory authorizations and compliance obligations for SES satellite operations in the Middle East and CIS region. You will deal with a large territory with widely varying cultural, regulatory and legal requirements and will assume an advocacy role for SES positions and seek to lobby in these countries in coordination with the Global Legal Regulatory team.
