Antenna Design Worksheet
2013-08-29 15:52:22| rfglobalnet Downloads
Haigh-Farr has developed a questionnaire / worksheet to help you determine the specifications for the antenna that you require. You may download the worksheet, fill out the information and send it to us. We may have a design similar to the one you require or we have the experience and simulation capability to customize a solution to fit your specific needs.

Antenna Performance Simulation
2013-08-29 15:16:38| rfglobalnet Downloads
Haigh-Farr combines its expertise in antenna design with specially developed software tools to simulate the performance of antennas in real world environments. When antennas are placed in a working environment, such as on the body of an aircraft or space vehicle, the proximity of metallic and dielectric structures, (complex ground planes, cylinders and fins), could affect their radiation patterns in an unanticipated manner. The resulting change in the coverage may adversely affect the performance of the communication link. In order to avoid costly and time consuming trial-and-error procedures to fix these problems, computer modeling is used to optimize the performance of the antenna in its actual environment. Early in the design cycle simulation may be used to change the shape and spacing of structures to further increase antenna performance.

Airborne Antenna Considerations for C-Band Telemetry Systems
2013-08-29 12:53:57| rfglobalnet News Articles
The changeover of many test ranges from Sband to C-band telemetry implies the need to modify or replace current systems. Several antenna-related issues need to be considered in to order facilitate a smooth transition to C-band. Amongst these are changes in vehicle-induced pattern degradation, the effect on increased propagation loss on link budgets, and the potential need for multi-band antennas that also support legacy systems during the transition. This Paper discusses these issues for both existing telemetry systems modified for C-band and for new systems. Conformal and nonconformal antennas will be addressed in this discussion. By David Farr

Aerospace Vehicle Geometry Effects On Omni-Directional Antenna Radiation Patterns
2013-08-29 12:50:56| rfglobalnet News Articles
Ground plane geometry plays a major roll in determining antenna radiation pattern characteristics, especially for omni-directional radiators. The ground plane for antennas utilized on many aerospace vehicles is the vehicle itself which most often cannot be changed to accommodate the electrical needs of an antenna. The resultant ground plane may be, therefore, far from optimal. By David Farr and Ron Sisco

Radiation Pattern Measurements Of The Nasa Mars Science Laboratory UHF Entry Antenna Using A Spherical Near-Field Range
2013-08-29 12:43:47| rfglobalnet News Articles
Measurements of a conical micro-strip Wraparound™ antenna array mounted on a portion of the entry vehicle for NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory mission were completed at Nearfield Systems, Inc.’s new spherical near-field range facility. The Wraparound™ antenna, designed and manufactured by Haigh-Farr, Inc., provides nearly full spherical coverage and operates in the UHF frequency band for telecommunications to orbiting assets at Mars. A summary of the measurements techniques and results are presented, along with a comparison of the measured and calculated patterns. By Paula R. Brown, David Farr, John Demas, and Jesus A. Aguilar
