Analog chip titan Texas Instruments this afternoon reported Q2 revenue just slightly below consensus, but beat on the bottom line, forecast this quarter's revenue and earnings below consensus, citing in particular a breakdown in demand in the communcations market. Revenue in the three months ended in June fell 1.8%, year over year, to $3.23 billion, yielding EPS of 65 cents.

According to a Washington Post article , the trend toward single-stream recycling and larger curbside collection bins has made the recycling stream "increasingly polluted and less valuable, imperiling the economics of the whole system." The article says the District of Columbia and Baltimore are among the cities that have helped to support the Waste Management material recovery facility in Elkridge, Maryland, though the MRF is still losing money.
