Scientific Archive Software Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Science Archive Team at ESAESAC, you will have the following responsibilities Database design and modelling Database installation, population, monitoring and maintenance Design, development, deployment and maintenance of Database interfaces and related applications Graphical user interfaces to allow users to query the database and select products Visualization tools Middletier applications Science Archive data distribution systems and interoperability services Science Archive interoperability service Virtual observatory interoperability systems Virtual observatory applications and clients Participate in the virtual observatory interoperability working groups Related documentation and configuration control tasks. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in computer science or software engineering Knowledge of ESA ground segment and scientific archives software engineering Experience in designing multitier architecture applications Experience in JAVA, web technologies, SQL, XML, GUI applications and data distribution applications Experience in the Virtual Observatory standards and protocols, working groups, working processes and environment would be an asset UNIX SUN Solaris or Linux, and PCWindows environment Experience with ESA software engineering processes and configuration control tools would be an asset Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
