Nordic countries, Netherlands lead EU digital economy index in 2018

(Telecompaper) The Nordic countries and the Netherlands continue to lead digital readiness in the EU, according to the latest Digital Economy and Society Index published by the European Commission. Over the past year, the gap between the most and the least digital countries in the EU slightly narrowed, from 36 points to 34 points. Denmark, Sweden, Finland and the Netherlands scored the highest ratings in the DESI 2018, while Ireland, Cyprus and Spain progressed the most (by more than 15 points) over the past four years.

Modern Times Group spins off Nordic Entertainment as listed company

(Telecompaper) Modern Times Group (MTG) has decided to split into two companies, one for e-sports, gaming and digital entertainment, and the other for broadcasting, studio production and social media advertising. The plan follows TDC's withdrawal from the merger with MTG Nordics that had been agreed at the beginning of February. MTG said it will distribute all of the shares in Nordic Entertainment Group to MTG shareholders and list them on Nasdaq Stockholm.

Telia Denmark introduces unlimited data plan for Nordic, Baltic region

(Telecompaper) Telia Denmark is introducing a new mobile subscription under the name Telia One, providing unlimited data across Telia's footprint in the Nordic and Baltic regions, as well as 20 GB of data for roaming in the EU each month. This service costs DKK 249 per month (EUR 33), and includes unlimited calls, texts and MMS in the Nordic and Baltic regions and in the EU.

Nokia supplies Telia with cloud native packet core in Nordic and Baltic countries

(Telecompaper) Nokia said that it has been selected as sole supplier for its Cloud Native Packet Core for the whole Telia Company in the Nordic and Baltic regions, covering Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia and Lithuania. It said this will serve the demands of enhanced mobile broadband and enable Telia to increase the automation of service introduction and operations.
