ZICTA picks Unitel's Uzi Mobile as fourth Zambian operator

(Telecompaper) Uzi Mobile Zambia, a unit of Dutch company Unitel International Holdings, has been selected as the country's fourth mobile phone service provider. The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) said that Uzi Mobile had pledged to invest over USD 350 million and create more than 450 direct jobs.

Telenor to sell east Europe mobile operators to Czech PPF Group for EUR 2.8 bln

(Telecompaper) Telenor has agreed to sell its mobile operators in Hungary, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Serbia to Czech investment group PPF for EUR 2.8 billion. PPF already owns the Czech operator O2 and is buying Bulgarian TV group Nova from MTG.

It analyses fourth quarter and full year 2017 results, both revenue and subscriber base, and compares the findings with results in the previous quarters and years. The report provides splits at different levels, from postpaid to prepaid but also from a network operator to retail point of view. China Unicom posts strong growth in FY results, mobile service revenue up 8%

(Telecompaper) China Unicom reported a strong improvement in results for 2017 and said it would resume dividend payments. The company said the first months of 2018 suggested it was on track for further strong growth in 2018.
